Every AI chip in the world runs through Synopsys before it exists, which gives Sassine Ghazi a clean read-thru on two things: how fast AI is now designing the chips themselves, and where the buildout actually runs outside of the room.

The short version:

  • Ghazi’s claim on his own leverage is blunt: “there is no chip today that is designed without Synopsys.” The company sells the tools that tame chip-design complexity, extended into physics simulation by the Ansys acquisition.

  • The market is moving from training to inference, and from one general-purpose AI chip toward customization: general-purpose, ASIC (Broadcom), and COT, the customer-owned tooling hyperscalers use to build their own silicon.
